The Metamorphosis Of The Tallahassee Real Estate Website

I have received a lot of questions and feedback about this real estate website over the years, and people have been asking me for an update on what we are doing to continually grow our traffic and business.

Years ago, I wrote "Thesis Makes The Best Real Estate Web Site" in order to explain the tools and systems that we use on our Tallahassee Real Estate website, but today I am excited to announce the first major modification we have undertaken since December 2009.

Real Estate Website Speed

Several months ago,  I announced our intention of doing a complete site overhaul when Thesis 2.0 is released. Our site is built on the The Thesis Theme for WordPress, and the version 2.0 release is expected to be a game-changer in terms of speed, search engine optimization and functionality. Well, we actually got started this weekend!

Reminder: If you are thinking about buying The Thesis Theme for WordPress, get it now before version 2.0 is released. You can purchase the developers version for peanuts, and it gives you free upgrades for life (that is what I have done). The rumor mill  says we can expect a price increase and the loss of free lifetime upgrades when Thesis 2.0 is released, so I am glad to be grandfathered in under the old price and program.

We want our real estate website visitors to be able to move rapidly through our more than 10,000 pages of unique content, and the only way to do this is with a well-engineered site built on the best framework (foundation) available on the internet.

If you think about it, building a great real estate website is much like creating a great home or office building. The foundation is critical, as it must be able to bear the load for all that is to come.

Real Estate Website Platform

The Tallahassee Real Estate website has undergone a transformation over the past five years. It moved from "someone else's server" in 2009 to a shared hosting account on Hostgator. This gave me complete control over the back-end, but allowed me to share the costs of a server with many different people.

Money Savings Tips: If you decide to host your website on Hostgator like I have, use the "realestateweb site" coupon code (at checkout) to save 25% off of your order.

We want our real estate website visitors to be able to move rapidly through our more than 10,000 pages of unique content, and the only way to do this is with a well-engineered site built on the best framework (foundation) available on the internet.

As our traffic grew, so did our need for resources. By the end of 2010, I realized we needed more bandwidth, more drive space, and more memory to serve the millions of visitors that were now streaming to the Tallahassee Real Estate website. After doing a lot of research, I discovered that our current host had the best "next level" solution, so we moved our site to a virtual private server (VPS) with Hostgator.

That worked well for the past year, but again we find ourselves busier than ever and needing more resources. I spent the past month looking at alternatives, and this time I have chosen a solution that should last us for several years to come. The Tallahassee Real Estate website now has its own server, with 100% dedicated resources that will in unison with our impending upgraded to Thesis 2.0.

Again, we found our web hosting solution with Hostgator, and we are now happy to be using a Pro Dedicated Server.

The Next Step For The Tallahassee Real Estate Web Site

We are now awaiting the release of Thesis 2.0. When it happens, we will be making a complete overhaul of our site with the intention of making it faster and easier to navigate. And this is where you, the reader comes in to the project.

Is there anything that you would like to see on the Tallahassee Real Estate Website? Any ideas, recommendations, complaints, thoughts, and opinions are welcome.

I hope this answers your questions about how to make a great real estate website, and I look forward to your sharing any tips below to what you think we should add during our upgrade.

Joe Wrote The Book On How To Sell A Home Today

Joe Manausa wrote the book on how to sell a home in the digital age, you can find it here“Location, location, location’ is no longer a competitive advantage. Digital marketing and going direct to consumer have made all geographical boundaries obsolete. The Business of Getting Business is a must-read modern-day survival guide for any local business to get to the next decade. Local businesses are on death ground.

They can either take a stand and re-invent themselves by embracing the digital frontier and have a chance to survive the overwhelming odds of digital direct-to-consumer capabilities that have erased all local and national business distinctions, or they can choose business as usual and accept certain death.

The Business of Getting Business is the critical survival guide for those that choose to dig in and fight.”
