This Veterans Day, I find myself reflecting on a time long ago — December 1989, during Operation Just Cause in the Republic of Panama. The memories of that period remain vivid — the faces of my fellow soldiers, the sounds, the purpose that united us. Serving our country wasn’t easy, but it shaped who I am today and deepened my appreciation for every man and woman who has worn the uniform.

Here in Tallahassee, Veterans Day is more than a date on the calendar, it’s a time to honor those who stood ready when their country called. It’s about gratitude, remembrance, and the quiet pride shared among those who served and their families who stood behind them.
I also want to extend a special thank-you to all the wonderful employees at the Sergeant Ernest I. “Boots” Thomas VA Clinic in Tallahassee. Your compassion, professionalism, and daily dedication make a tremendous difference in the lives of local veterans. You carry forward the spirit of service in every patient you help.

To all my fellow veterans, whether you served in peace or war, at home or abroad, thank you. Your courage, discipline, and sacrifice continue to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.
