Tallahassee Youth Leader Sets Example
In an age where the news constantly delivers stories about what is wrong with America and its people, I find it refreshing each year when I get the announcement that a Tallahassee youth continues in her very adult mission to beat diabetes.
May 3rd marks the 7th anniversary of Haley May's quest to raise money for the fight against diabetes, so I will ask all of our readers, both locally and across the internet, to "mark your calendars" for the May Family Dollars 4 Diabetes Car Wash.
Car Wash For Diabetes
The annual car wash was the idea of a (then) 11 year old girl who had recently been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Rather than become depressed, Haley asked if there was something she could do to raise money for the American Diabetes Association.
This young leader took a negative event and turned it into a very positive fund raising effort that has delivered more than $55,000 to the ADA, and she is not done yet. Haley is now a Senior at Chiles High School, so this could very well be her last year running this event as her studies might take her elsewhere.
Save The Date
The car wash will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3rd at the Farmers & Merchants Bank at 3320 Thomasville Road (located at the corner of Metropolitan Blvd. and Thomasville Road).
If you are not in Tallahassee, or if you cannot attend this year, please consider a small donation to help Haley have her best year ever! You can mail a check to support her at:

Learn About Diabetes From Haley
I hope you are able to help support Haley May at the 2014 May Family Dollars 4 Diabetes Car Wash. It's for an important cause, and more importantly, it allows us to acknowledge the good that is being done by a Tallahassee youth.
