Friends from college are spending the week down at Cape San Blas, so my family and I are spending Monday and Tuesday down at the beach, and I am going to take a day off from the Tallahassee Real Estate Blog.
Having spent more than 5 hours out on the beach yesterday, I can tell you that conditions are still excellent. As a matter of fact, we are taking the time to point out to our young children that these are possibly the nicest beaches in the world.
I snapped a few pictures this morning (around 7:00 a.m.) with my iphone to show that conditions are how they have been since I was a child. Of course, from the back porch, I’m not so sure you could have seen any oil if it were there anyway.
Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill Has Not Reached Cape San Blas
One of the greatest concerns my friends from Atlanta had before coming down this year (the 20th consecutive year they have come down), was that the oil spill from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill would arrive and ruin the beach. They chose to keep their reservation and come down, and they are very happy that they did.
The Impact Of The Oil Spill On Tallahassee Real Estate
Anything that negatively affects the State of Florida will most likely have a negative impact on the Tallahassee real estate market. I will be watching with great interest as the slick moves to the east and hopefully is contained before it can reach the beaches nearest our area.
I am hoping that our summer tourists get the message that the oil from the Deepwater Horizon is not on our beaches. The water in North Florida (and Cape San Blas in particular) is still emerald green and the waves, wind, sun and sand are as nice as any time in the past.
