Tallahassee New Construction Permits and Sales

I like tracking the trend of new permits issued versus new homes sold in the Tallahassee real estate market. This lets us know whether builders are adding to the inventory or if consumers are depleting the inventory. In the chart below, the red line is new permits while the green line is new sales. After reducing inventory for well over a year, the permits are outpacing sales again. This is a normal cycle movement but bears close monitoring. It appears as if we are in solid downward trend on permitting, which should help thin out the inventory in the entire market.
